Dr. Michael Klein

Dr. Michael Klein is Head of the South East Asian Clinical Development Services Organization of Quintiles, a company he joined over 3 years ago. His time in Asia has coincided with dramatic growth in the region as Asia assumes an ever-increasing role in clinical drug development.

Michael earned his Medical degree from the University of Natal (South Africa) and has completed Business Management programmes at both the University of Hull (UK) and Vanderbilt University (Nashville, USA).

Prior to joining Quintiles, Michael served as Executive Director, Scientific Affairs for Bristol Myers Squibb Australia and New Zealand, based in Melbourne. With over 15 years of patient care, research and business management experience, he has significantly enhanced research & development productivity through strong leadership and a focus on delivering against clearly-defined objectives.

Michael has also served as Medical Director of the Middle East, Turkey and South African region for Bristol-Myers Squibb as well as Medical Director for Schering AG, South Africa. His interests include Business Ethics, reflected in the fact that he is also a member of Quintiles’ global Council on Research Ethics (CORE), where his particular focus is on the ethics of clinical research in developing countries.
