Patricia Lim Kim Chooi

PATRICIA LIM KIM CHOOI is a Chief Scientific Officer in Malaysian Bio-Diagnostics Research Sdn Bhd, Selangor.She is in charge of the R&D and production activities of the company. MBDr’s main activity is the development and manufacturing of medical diagnostic kits, particularly for infectious diseases.She graduated from Universiti of Malaya Kuala Lumpur and obtained doctor of philosophy in 1991.

She has worked as a research officer at the Institute for Medical Research, Kuala Lumpur from 1979 -2004. Last position held was Head, Molecular Pathology Unit, IMR. She has been the project leader for 15 research projects funded by Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment Malaysia involving the identification of disease biomarkers for diagnosis of infectious diseases and cancers. Published more than 40 scientific papers in refereed journals.

Other than this, she also has been served as Joint Coordinator for the Medical Biotechnology Cooperative Centre under the National Biotechnology Directorate, Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment from 1996-2004. Apart from this, she has been worked as Editor in Southeast Asian Journal of Tropical Medicine and Public Health, from 1998 – 2004.
